Hi Valerie!! I would have voted for #2, also. Your warmth is just shining through your face. Very intriguing post – it would be fun to do a class picture montage with all of us doing a real and fake smile.

No contest! Photo #2 is real.

I’m saving this post — no, I’m sending it! — to my husband, who is normally a nice guy. I just don’t get near him when he has a camera — he WAITS until I smile “natural.” Hahahaha! My avatar is one he got of me without my knowing. I was deep in thought about something — maybe just the pretty outdoors, wishing it were warm enough to run to the mail box without a coat.

My mom on the other hand, wouldn’t allow us to smile in formal photos. I did anyway, for my senior class pic in high school, and she chose one without a smile.

Aren’t we weird?
