Digital painting on iPhone or iPod Touch is growing more and more sophisticated.
You can of course blend colours as you paint on your iphone, so long as the app you’re using offers transparency. Current favourite iphone painting apps like Brushes, Layers and Colors all offer transparency. Lay down strips of see-through colour and you can achieve a shaded look.
All the same, blending colours using transparency alone is not that easy. Unless you’re careful, you can end up with a set of streaky stripes instead of a gradual, subtle change of tone.
This morning I discovered Inspire. Like my long-time favourite for the Wacom Tablet artist, Corel Painter, Inspire allows you to blend by smearing colours together manually. (And manual really means manual in an iphone art app, as you’re painting with your finger!)
Above see the fruits of my first doodle in Inspire.
