"This new entity will become the exclusive vehicle for growing all Accor brands in India, including luxury and lifestyle brands from Ennismore, Accor's fast-growing hospitality portfolio," the companies said Wednesday. Hospitality company Accor will continue to lead operations, brand management and provide full access to its brands and services, they said. As part of the partnership, the companies said they would jointly invest in and become the largest shareholder in Treebo, an Indian company that manages 800 hotels across 120 cities. In addition, the companies said that Treebo would lead the development of the Ibis and Mercure brands in India through a license agreement. The companies said that the combined portfolio of Accor and Treebo would create India's third-largest hospitality player, with more than 30,000 rooms.
