Dr. Marilyn Black, vice president and senior technical advisor of UL, Dr. Steve Kerber, Director of UL's Firefighter Safety Institute and Dr. Debra Harris, CEO of RAD consultants in evidence-based design, discuss with Steve Freeman of Room & Board the results of ongoing innovative furniture research. The research, designed to scientifically evaluate how consumers can be exposed to flame retardants, formaldehyde and other chemicals in their home furnishings, was announced at High Point Market last October. Dr. Black has led scientists from Emory University School of Public Health as they gathered information on furniture and developed methods for evaluating potential health risks. The ongoing research project provides valuable data to help specifiers with strategies to select safer materials and manufacturing alternatives. For more information, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
