Aeropostale: Aropostale Names Teen Soccer Player Cavan Sullivan Brand Ambassador

Teen retailer Aéropostale's newest brand ambassador is professional soccer player Cavan Sullivan. The 15-year-old American is a midfielder for the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer and made his debut on July 17. The teen retailer said Sullivan "embodies the youthful energy and style that Aéropostale is known for." More from Sourcing Journal A new campaign featuring Sullivan incorporates a range of trending pieces, including the teen retailer's viral Baggy Jeans option. Aéropostale's baggy jeans, featuring a comfortable relaxed fit through a straight leg, is a '90s-inspired fit available for both men and women. Baggy jeans is the season's must-have for back-to-school , and the look is a street style that's favored by adults too. Other Aéropostale looks featured in the campaign include a varsity jacket, graphic tee, a barn jacket-one "fall's hottest trends," Aéropostale said-and a cozy quarter-zip fleece pullover. The campaign represents Cavan's relaxed, self-assured presence," the teen retailer said. "Partnering with Aéropostale is really cool because their style is trendy while also relaxed," Sullivan said. "I've always been into fashion that's both trendy and easy to wear like their baggy jeans and varsity jackets." He added that Aéropostale has the clothes he'd wear "to just hang out with my friends or head to practice. It's awesome to represent a brand that connects with my vibe on and off the field." The primarily mall-based teen retailer was acquired out of bankruptcy proceeding s by a consortium led by brand management firm Authentic Brands Group in September 2016 in a $243 million bid. The consortium included mall operators Simon Property Group and General Growth Properties. The latter was later acquired by Brookfield Property Partners. Aeropostale is a specialty retailer of denim and fashion basics and operates under the SPARC Group umbrella that is owned by the consortium. Other brands that are now part of the SPARC umbrella include Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Forever 21, Lucky Brand and Nautica. SPARC operates Aéropostale stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as the e-commerce site Aeropostale.com. There are now over 350 Aéropostale stores operated internationally through licensing partners.
