ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Aetna's pop-up market at the Jubilee Center was buzzing with energy as community members gathered to access a variety of valuable resources. Attendees were able to learn about housing options, get free blood pressure checks from UW Health and receive legal guidance from Prairie Street Legal Services. Several Staffing agencies and local employers were also on-site, connecting with people looking for work. Toni Thomas, Outreach Coordinator for Aetna Better Health of Illinois, said the event was off to a strong start. "So yes, we're very successful so far," Thomas said. "At 10, there were already at least 30 to 40 people here sitting down, waiting for us to be set up and ready to go so we can provide the needed information. You have employers, so you have people here that's actually job searching." The Market made it easy for people to find support all in one place. Job seekers had the chance to speak directly with potential employers, while others took advantage of health checks and legal consultations. Many attendees shared how helpful it was to have access to so many resources under one roof. Organizers believe the event will have a lasting impact by giving people the tools and information they need to improve their lives. Aetna Better Health of Illinois plans to host more events like this, bringing resources and opportunities directly to the community.
