AL: German Firm to Open New $9.8M Plastics Plant in U.S.

German technical plastics products firm ID Plastics LP is investing $9.8 million to open its first facility in the U.S. in Auburn, AL to support production of the company's collapsible container system, ID PACK, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced in a press release this week.The company's founders, brothers Martin and Andreas Hartl, will manufacture various products at the Auburn site from their companies DUROtherm Plastics, a thermoforming operation, and the Infinex Group, which is focused on extrusion. Both of their companies are headquartered in the Black Forest in Germany. "Transport containers have always had downsides of one kind or another," said Martin Hartl in the release. "We responded with an innovative collapsing container system that eliminates these problems. The ID PACK is a truly problem-free sleeve pack system."ID Plastics LP's expansion in Auburn is expected to create 50 new jobs in the area over three years. The company said it selected the site in Alabama because of the Hartl brothers' years of experience working with customers in the U.S."Germany technology made in the U.S.A. with state-of-the-art, customer-oriented manufacturing - that's the perfect combination, the way we see it," Andreas Hartl said in a statement.
