Meritage Fine Jewelers has opened its first store, but faces a legal challenge from Smyth Jewelers that could jeopardize its business. Smyth is asking the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland to prevent Meritage from contacting customers, employees and vendors whose information was included in files Smyth claim were stolen by two of its former executives.
