Tired of nagging pains, feeling lethargic, or just kind of bummed you are not meeting some of your personal goals? What if the tipping point to a better you is a simple tweak in your daily routine? Our philosophy at Align is that Pilates and yoga can be that silver bullet that leads you to a long, healthy, successful life. Our goal and mindset are that every Pilates and yoga session focuses on healing those little imbalances of the body that over time can conspire to cause big problems. Through proper alignment of the "mind, body, and spirit" your life will be healthier and more enjoyable. "Developing the minor muscles naturally helps to strengthen major muscles," described Joseph Pilates, the founder of the Pilates Method. Initiating change to one's health, fitness levels, and athletic performance truly lies in the little details of the body. By making this a main component of how we approach exercise and movement we're able to see first-hand the positive changes that transform people's physical condition. These so-called "minor muscles" in the body are the smaller muscles surrounding the joints. Their purpose is to help stabilize and balance the body's joints, unlike the bigger muscles that produce large movements in the body. For example, the rotator cuff of the shoulder is a group of small muscles all working together to keep your humorous bone (arm) connected to your torso. Whereas your Pectoral, Trapezius, Deltoid, and Latissimus help move the arm in a big circle, up, down, in, out, and assist in lifting objects. However, if the rotator cuff is not functioning correctly the whole arm will be jeopardized. So, by simply addressing the little muscles around the joints through proper alignment and correct movement we see the whole body falling naturally into place, functioning with ease and efficiency. When the body is working with ease and efficiency you feel better and there's naturally less pain. You'll also feel more energetic and athletic performance will improve. To feel this change we encourage you to try a private session in Pilates or yoga. By adding this at least once a week the knowledge gained in a session can be applied to your everyday activities. Resulting in a better functioning body that will make you, move with ease, feel more energetic, and take your game to the next level.
