Patty and John Brissenden love living in the beautiful Hope Valley, home to Sorensen's Resort, which they have co-owned for over 36 years. They also came with a broad interesting assortment of experience in the world of politics.Patty is credited with helping found Friends of Hope Valley, which worked with other non-profit organizations to garner $25 million in state and federal funds to put 25,000 acres of private ranch lands into public ownership over a 10-year effort. She was a key speaker at the first "Sierra Now" conference held in Sacramento in 1992. She is founder and former Board member/Chair of the Sierra Nevada Alliance and currently serves as Board Member of The Sierra Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to organizing investment in protecting and restoring the natural resources and communities of the Sierra Nevada region.John, having served on the California Lahonton Regional Water Quality Board for seven years also served for 8 years on the state Off-Highway Vehicle Commission. He was also elected to the Alpine County Board of Supervisors for a four-year term. Currently, John serves on the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which mission is to protect and ensure the environmental, economic and social health of Sierra Nevada community. This organization works to create vibrant communities and landscapes sustained for future generations.
