Fraudsters sought to steal $5.3 billion through business email compromise schemes from October 2013 through December 2016, according to new data released by the FBI through its Internet Crime Complaint Center.Between January 2015 and December 2016, those exposed losses increased by 2,370% as fraudsters continue to refine their methods to dupe victims.While these email scams have been reported in 131 countries around the world, over half of the incidents occurred in the United States.
