Artelle Designs Blog The Future of Jewelry: Spring 2016 Pantone Colors

Hello, Artelle blog readers and friends! Hope you're all having a marvelous week. Let's dig right into this week's topic, because it's a trendy one. And we all know how quickly trends tend to come in and out of our lives. We've got to digest as much as we can!As they do in the world of fashion, we're going to participate in a bit of "time travel" and skip ahead to the spring of 2016. Why not, right? Pantone just unveiled the latest Fashion Color report, so we have some things to discuss pretty immediately regarding the near future of jewelry. While the color report is simply a forecast, Pantone is well-respected enough that this report essentially dictates the upcoming trends. People listen and they follow. Amazing how influential putting the words out there can be. Who is Pantone, you ask? According to their website: Pantone LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of X-Rite, Incorporated, is the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of industries. The PANTONE® name is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer. Now that we've gotten the technicalities out of the way, let's talk about these beautiful hues Pantone has so kindly revealed! They've referred to the upcoming color selects as "a transporting and transformative canvas." What does that even mean? Well, this array of beautiful tinctures will take viewers to "happier, sunnier places where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves." Just like the fall color trends, we'll see lots of natural, bright, earthy tones. Love the interesting juxtaposition of illumination and subdued earth tones. Balance is such a necessary reality, and that's what next year's fashion report is all about. The colors for the coming year pay homage to natural beauty. They're calming and grounding - as pleasing as can be! However, they're not all rooted exclusively in nature. Part of the cool factor is in the contrast of "urban design and lush vegetation." There's a sort of unexpectedness in the color combinations that transport us to a world of travel and nostalgia. Lots of exotic weavings of bold energy and, in contrast, relaxation. So let's get to the specifics. Here are the top ten colors for fashion for spring 2016:Rose QuartzThis tone is referred to as "persuasive yet gentle." It feels very feminine, serene and focused. Would make for a beautiful pendant or statement ring. As a gemstone, Rose Quartz helps keep us centered on our surroundings during the busy but free spirited spring and summer months. A great sentiment. We have several pieces that would delightfully compliment a pretty Rose Quartz colored top or scarf. I would stick with basic metals - even a cool combo of metals, like the Ally, below.Peach EchoA friendly, springlike tone! Oranges have been trendy for quite some time. This one has a whole lot of peach in it too. Fresh and warm. It's bright, but soft enough that it doesn't overwhelm. Playful and dreamy.SerenityGrounded and airy - this tone feels quite balanced. Blue tends to bring a sense of comfort and tranquility to mind, and this transcendent version evokes feelings of strong connectedness within our space.Snorkel BlueA maritime-inspired blue, this hue is bold and energetic, but somehow feels like a refreshing day on the water. It encourages escape - think vacation time. A great-spirited hue. Wear it on your finger in the form of this delicate Blue Topaz stackable ring.ButtercupWhile the majority of the spring/summer palette trends toward calmness, Buttercup offers up that definite contrast I mentioned earlier. Bright, sunny, and lovely. Enough said. While it's tough to find a stone quite that bright of a yellow, this Citrine Snowflake Pendant will do the trick!Limpet ShellA delightful shade of aqua, this color is clear and crisp - modern and clean. Feels tranquil yet focused. Let this color dangle from your ears.Lilac GrayAnd now comes our neutral - always needed to offset a lot of brightness. This color brings in a bit of sophistication and distinctiveness. Helps round out the pallette.FiestaHigh energy and fiery, this color screams excitement. It's one of the more stunning colors on the list, as the majority of the hues next year will feel a bit more relaxed. This one incites the passion within us! Wear it around your neck with this stunning White Gold Sapphire pendant.Iced CoffeeA strong earthy tone makes a great transitional color, carrying us along through the seasons. It's soft and subtle, reminiscent of the stability we all crave.Green FlashThis color encourages us to have a little bit of fun - to escape the routine of daily life and allow what comes in freely to inspire greatness in us. The quintessential urban/nature combo color, this one sets the tone perfectly for the coming year. And that about wraps up the spring 2016 color report. What are your favorite hues on the list? We'd love to hear from you! If you're interested in sharing, you know where to find us.Until then, have a colorful day!
