Barkworthies Blog Barkworthies Donates $12,900 to local Animal Shelter in Support of Animal Rescue

We at Barkworthies are huge proponents of animal rescue. Many of our employees' dogs are rescues, and we know how important it is to give deserving animals a loving home. This is why we launched the Chews Rescue campaign this spring: it was our way of giving back to animal rescue. We partnered with one of the great animal shelters in our local Richmond, Virginia, Richmond Animal League. This no-kill shelter has been around since 1979 and has helped thousands of animals. In 2015, they adopted out over 2,000 animals!   Here is what Christi Kampanos, Events Coordinator of Richmond Animal League, had to say about the generous donation:  "The Barkworthies Chews Rescue campaign will do so much for RAL. The campaign raised over $10,000 which will do a ton for our shelter. Just to put that into perspective, it costs well over $150 every time we intake an animal including shelter, food, vaccines, and general intake expenses. We take in over 2,000 cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens annually, so the funds raised through this campaign will help all of them in some way. It’s quite an impact in itself, and every dollar directly benefits the animals. We are so grateful for Barkworthies' partnership and can’t wait to work with them again in the future."
