BF Hiestand House Blog Snow Tubing Fun in Central PA

If the Winter Olympics got you thinking about hitting the slopes, but you're lacking the skill and coordination needed for skiing or snowboarding, you might want to give snow tubing a try. Snow tubing is a lot like sledding, but without the long hike back up the hill. Not far from B.F. Hiestand House there are two great snow tubing venues where you can get started on your snow sports journey. Grab a tube, have a seat and let gravity do its thing at AvalancheXpress at Heritage Hills Resort. They have 10 lanes of tubing fun and two powered rope lines to tow tubers to the top of the 80-foot hill. Individual riders can hop in a 42" inflatable inner tube for a ride down the well-groomed paths, and parties of two or more can link their tubes together for a tandem ride. Snow crews make the snow and groom the hill every day for maximum speed and fun. There's even lighting for night tubing and fire pits to warm you. Iron Valley Tubing is another place where you can get outside and play in the snow. Hold on for the ride as you barrel down 15 dedicated snow tubing lanes with 900 feet of run and a 130-foot drop. When you're ready for another run, two tow lifts will pull you and your tube to the top of the hill. When it is below freezing and the snow is packed down, the lanes get fast! Tubes are provided, so all you need to do is dress warmly to enjoy the fun! In between runs, you can take the chill off by the blazing fire pits and sip some hot chocolate to warm up from the inside out. Both AvalancheXpress and Iron Valley require reservations and advanced tickets, so check out their websites to schedule your visit for a fun-packed day in the snow.
