MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Chalk up another big day for the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, thanks to the efforts of Blacks Tire Service (BTS).The Whiteville, N.C.-based dealership raised $207,404 for the charity at its 20th annual Black's Tire Charity Golf Tournament, held Sept. 14 at Myrtle Beach National Golf Course. The total included $201,523 from the golf tournament and another $5,000+ BTS donated for scholarships. A total of 256 golfers participated.The inaugural tournament was held at the same course in 2002, raising $6,000.Since that time, Black's Tire Service and its various family members have contributed nearly $2 million to assist children who benefit from the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina."We are delighted to be able to be a part of this mission and appreciate every gift and effort that make this possible," said Ricky Benton, II, Black's Tire VP sales and marketing.The charity supports abused, neglected and abandoned children to help them become productive members of the community. The founder of Black's Tire, W. Crowell Black, was among the charity's original board of directors members.
