The 120,000 sq.ft facility will provide MRO facility for all business aircraft Abu Dhabi: Canadian aerospace manufacturer - Bombardier - has announced the development of a new service facility for its business jets at Abu Dhabi's Al Bateen Executive Airport. Construction is slated to begin in the first half of 2025, with completion expected in the second half of 2026. The service facility will provide convenient maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for all Bombardier business aircraft, the company said in a statement. The facility will include a 55,000 ft. two hangar and parts department and offer scheduled and unscheduled heavy maintenance, aircraft modifications and aircraft on ground (AOG) capabilities. It also will accommodate aircraft as large as Bombardier's Global 7500 and Global 8000. Bombardier had originally planned to build the facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport. However, the new location at Al Bateen aligns more effectively with the needs of the aircraft maker's customers. Job generator At full capacity, the new OEM service facility aims to create approximately 100 aerospace jobs for Abu Dhabi. "We are thrilled to announce the new location of our Abu Dhabi Service facility at the dynamic Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi," said Paul Sislian, Executive Vice President of Aftermarket Services and Strategy. He added, "This location is strategically aligned with all our aftermarket priorities and perfectly matches the needs of our discerning customer base. Our customers are accustomed to receiving an exceptional service experience wherever they are in the world, and this new facility in this dynamic financial hub will ensure they continue to receive the best service experience possible." The new facility will provide service solutions for the region and the worldwide customers of Bombardier Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft families, it said. The new Abu Dhabi Service facility further expands on Bombardier's existing service footprint in the UAE. Bombardier's Dubai Line Maintenance station provides Learjet, Challenger and Global customers with fast, efficient Aircraft on Ground (AOG) service capabilities and general line maintenance capabilities. Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports said the move represents a strategic alignment, given the airport's dedicated focus on business aviation. She said, "This facility will further affirm Abu Dhabi's position as a leading aviation hub and contribute significantly to the region's economic growth." Bombardier said it plans to publish its financial results for the first quarter of 2025 on May 1. Last year, the Montreal-based OEM's deliveries scaled up by eight units to 146 aircraft, and revenues beat guidance at $8.7 billion as service revenues jumped by 16 per cent. However, even as deliveries climbed, they were still a bit softer than anticipated with ongoing supply-chain "headwinds," company executives reported in February morning while releasing the 2024 year-end results.
