Bonnie Brite Cleaners Blog How to Treat Stains at Home: Wine

We've all been there: you are out for dinner and enjoying a glass of amazing red wine when all the sudden you've spilled wine on your favorite shirt or best dress. Red wine isn't an easy stain to get out, but spilling it on your clothing doesn't mean the end of the road for that garment. Our Queens laundry service offers some things you try at home to try to remove that stain: Grab the salt. A time-tested treatment for red wine stains is plain old salt. Apply liberally to the stain and allow it to set overnight. Baking soda. Others say that baking soda is their go-to for red wine. You can combine this with salt for even better stain removing abilities. Vinegar. If you have a particularly stubborn stain, try soaking the stain in vinegar and water. It should-at least-lighten the stain which may allow your detergents to take care of the rest. The key to wine stain removal is to blot up the excess liquids as much as possible without rubbing the stain. Rubbing will force the liquid into the fibers and make the stain harder to remove. Don't ever dry your garment until the stain is gone, either, or else you'll set it into the fibers and it may be impossible to remove. If you have a stubborn wine stain, bring your garment into our Queens Laundry Service. Our full-service garment care can take care of all of your stubborn stains.
