Project 10X (P-10X) Phase I -P-10X is designed and focused on working with individuals who were incarcerated, paroled (currently on), probation (currently on), their families', and their communities. P-10X seeks to work with organizing these individuals through continuous development and growth while establishing and reestablishing positive economic and social pathways utilizing the power of collective voting.Until those mentioned in the above paragraph cohesively "voice" their perspectives and demand their just due through the voting process, they will remain in a perpetual struggle to gain employment and completely separate from the legal system. The premise of Project 10X is to locally change the political landscape by submitting (through voting in or out) current and potential political figures. This process will empower those who may be under the impression they are powerless, the opportunity to be heard and the ability to include the issues that unpleasantly impact (certain) communities through the actions and/or in-actions of the political, criminal justice and social service systems.There are some states that it is legal for individuals with felony convictions to vote; however, there are states that have banned the right for anyone with a felony conviction to vote. In such situations, even those who cannot vote themselves have the power to enlighten and empower those they care about; in short, we all have a part we can play in correcting the longstanding misrepresentation and under appreciation of certain communities and certain groups of people.Individuals living in a state where voting rights can be restored to him or her and individuals living in states where voting rights are terminated and will not be restored to him or her are equally capable of providing the much needed assistance and can count on P-10X to work with each individual to recruit, educate, and empower 10 additional voting community members to use their "voices" through voting. In both scenarios, the goal is to be a plus 10 for each individual previously or currently affected by legal issues in time for local and national elections! Why should those who have no legal issues consider caring and supporting? Incarceration causes an economic pull to all in the community and adjacent communities. The numbers of children who are estranged from one or more of their parents and many of those currently placed in foster care have a direct correlation with current laws and guidelines enacted by those who do not share the struggle and are not empathetic to many of the situations. The societal and economic outcome of the overload from children who have to be placed in the foster care system, individuals are re-incarcerated due to not paying child support (employment obtainment struggles), and housing issues for released individuals (banned from living in certain facilities) places a heavy burden on all of us. The social service system is overloaded, undereducated, and understaffed; more importantly, they are not in your situation and may never be able to fully understand it, and if they are, they may not care to!
