It should speak volumes about the upcoming power that is harnessed under the hood of the new Titan, the Titan XD.It begins with a monstrosity. The Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine under the hood is the heart of the beast. Even though it produces remarkable force, with 310hp and 555lb-ft of torque, it still performs more efficiently than comparable gasoline engines. Two stage turbo means there is no more turbo lag. Continuous power is delivered as you accelerate, thanks to a Holset M2 two-stage turbocharger. Perhaps the biggest shock of all is that this massive engine is not louder than what you knew, as the compacted graphite iron cylinder block and dual overhead camshafts cut down on the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) of the hefty diesel engine.To accommodate the greater potential for towing with the more powerful engine, the Titan XD is situated on a larger chassis. A new frame received reinforcements to make for a seriously tough body to take on the biggest jobs in stride. The interior is large and spacious, so you might not mind taking your office on the road anymore. The shifter is now in the center column, so you have more space for your stuff and to move around in the cabin.
