Byron: Despite threat from the administration, Byron Burger Chain is confident of a rescue deal

The owner of Byron's burger chain has filed a notice in intention to appoint administrators. However, he is confident that the company will be able to secure a rescue deal. Famously Proper filed the notice in intent to finalize a transaction that it hopes will help the brand's long term future, TheBusinessDesk.com has learned. The filing gives creditors a window of opportunity to obtain a rescue plan without the need to file legal action. It would be the third restructuring in less than five years for the casual dining chain, which was generating annual sales of £90m from more than 70 restaurants at its peak. Byron's restaurant in Leeds The company currently employs approximately 600 people at 21 Byron restaurants in the UK, including Leeds and Liverpool. Its second brand, Mother Clucker, had one restaurant in Islington, London, which is currently closed, and uses Byron's 21 restaurants to provide a delivery service. Byron, a chain of restaurants with distinct identities, was founded in 2007. It has since grown to employ 1,800 people.
