Calivirgin Blog 20 Olive Oil Uses

When most people think of Extra Virgin Olive Oil they picture the versatile, delicious oil we love to cook with. But there are so many other uses for olive oil. We can thank the ancient Egyptians for using olive oil as the first beauty product. So here they are, our favorite uses for olive oil outside of the kitchen:1.You can apply a liberal amount of olive oil to dry hair from root to tip and leave it in as long as you like for a deep conditioner. Just remember to shampoo well afterwards. In a pinch you can pour a dime-sized amount on the palms of your hands, rub them together, and then run your fingers through your hair to tame frizz in place of a serum. The vitamin E in olive oil is known to help in reducing dandruff and removing baby's cradle cap.2.You can replace your body lotion with olive oil. It's loaded with antioxidants which help fight off free radicals in the environment that are cancer causing. The oil will provide your body with some deep moisturization and it absorbs quickly.3.Chapped lips? Combine some olive oil and sugar to make the perfect lip scrub. You can even do this to your entire face for an exfoliator.4.If you have dry feet try this before bed - apply a good amount of olive oil on your feet, massage it in, and put on a thick pair of socks. When you wake up in the morning your feet will be noticeably softer.5.An Italian woman once told me that once she got to the bottom of her olive oil in her kitchen she would set it aside to use for her face as a moisturizer. She said the natural olive sediment at the bottom of the bottle had the most antioxidants and that women in Italy put olive oil under their eyes to keep them looking young. Calivirgin Lusty Lemon oil is especially good for this purpose.6.For pregnant women a daily stomach massage with olive oil will help stimulate blood flow to the skin. It also contains vitamin E and squalene which will help your skin's elasticity. Just remember to let the oil fully absorb before applying clothing over the administered area.7.If you are ever in a sticky situation with tree sap or end up with chewing gum in your hair use olive oil for an easy removal. Pour some over the affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. You can then work it out with your fingers or a toothbrush. This also works with paint.8.Grab your favorite essential oil (we like lavender and tea tree) and a few tablespoons of olive oil for the ultimate bath soak that will leave your skin "baby soft".9.Olive oil is a great eye makeup remover. Massage it gently around the eye area to remove even the most stubborn mascara. Avoid getting directly in eyes.10.Make a homemade cellulite scrub with unused ground coffee combined with olive oil. The caffeine in the coffee will stimulate your skin and the grounds exfoliate to help reduce the appearance of cellulite.11.Get a close shave with olive oil for silky legs if you run out of shaving cream.12.For sunburns apply a mixture olive oil and aloe vera to your body for its antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and soothing moisture.13.Create a natural barrier for your baby's bottom by using a little olive oil in place of diaper rash cream. It's the ultimate ointment since olive oil has anti-bacterial properties and is completely natural.14.For beautiful nails apply some to your hands to help keep your cuticles from getting dry and to make you nails nice and shiny. Keep your olive oil next to your kitchen sink to use after doing dishes.15.Battle a sore throat by sipping on some olive oil. Make sure the oil is warm. Then you can even add some honey, lemon juice, or sugar for flavor if you like. The oil will coat your throat which will help with persistent coughing. Calivirgin LustyLemon or Blood Orange olive oil is especially good for this purpose and eliminates the need for flavoring.16.Drizzle some olive oil on your animals' food to keep their coats glossy. It has also proven helpful for your pets' joints as they age. For cats the olive oil can even help loosen hairballs.17.For squeaky doors and hinges you can use olive oil as a lubricant. Apply with a towel; then wipe off any excess.18.Polish wood furniture with olive oil in place of using harmful chemicals.19.Olive oil makes a great shoe shine for leather shoes and boots. Just remove your laces before application. Wipe shoes down with a damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt. Then you can buff them with a brush or towel soaked with olive oil to make them really shine.20. Lastly, sipping on at least one tablespoon daily in the morning on an empty stomach can aid in digestion. It will lubricate your digestive tract and is a mild, natural way to promote regularity. Please keep in mind when consuming moderate amounts of olive oil daily the increased fat content being added to your diet.
