Captec has announced the acquisition of Aleutia, a provider of rugged, high-performance, low-cost, computing solutions with innovative thermal management. The combination of Captec's experience in end-to-end industrial applications and specialist computing equipment with Aleutia's experience with high performance, low cost, fanless computing and thermal management systems will create a powerful range of computers for embedded, edge and IoT computing says Captec.Aleutia was founded in 2006 to support education in Africa. The company developed a range of computing solutions that feature an innovative thermal management design that leverages the bimetallic advantages of aluminium and copper. Aluminium secures the benefits of low cost and lightweight, while copper delivers high thermal conductivity and provides a distinctive aesthetic. The fanless computers provide silent, unthrottled performance in high temperatures from the enhanced thermal management.Aleutia's success in Africa resulted in the company expanding into the healthcare and industrial sectors. The next chapter will see the Aleutia legacy products redesigned and technology refreshed by Captec, then relaunched into industrial applications to provide the 8th generation of NUC solutions together with low power, low-cost Celeron and ARM technologies. The computers will also be coupled with extended I/O connectivity options, the latest Intel Movidius Myriad X VPU modules for vision and AI-based applications, and GSM/LTE SIM options for cloud connectivity. The Aleutia deal will enable Captec to drive further growth in the UK, North American and wider export markets.More informationwww.captec-group.com/Related thermal management newsBATTERY COOLING SYSTEM ADAPTS TO SHAPE OF THE CELLSLIQUID FLOW THROUGH (LFT) POWER COOLING FOR OPENVPX CHASSISTHERMOELECTRIC COOLING BECOMES FIT FOR MICROTECHNOLOGYIMMERSION COOLING FOR 100 SERVER BOARDSPRECISION LIQUID COOLING FOR RACKS AND ROWS IN DATA CENTRES
