The real estate market here is sizzling hot. January 2017 was the busiest January we've ever had. 2016 was the 2nd busiest year ever. Second only to 2005 by just a few hundred sales. We sold over 17k houses and that was up over 10% over 2015. The median sales price was at an all time high of $245k, but it was only a modest 4.3% gain over 2015. Many things are pointing to 2017 being the best year we've ever had. We continue to receive allocates from all sides. Volvo is going to open their plant here this year in the Goose Creek/Summerville area. You can still buy a home on that side of town for $100/sqft. Of course, Mt Pleasant is the most desirable are with those for expendable incomes. It's around $200/sqft there. New mayor, John Tecklenburg, seems intent on reviving West Ashley. It's a great central location to live in and you can buy there for under $150/sqft. New construction is booming on Johns Island. Of course, new construction is all over the place, but Johns Island is now on everyone's radar. And all of the islands are great places for a 2nd home for those with too much money!!
