Cobham: Cobham Sports and Sherborne reserves progress in cup

COBHAM Sports progressed in the Dorset Premier League Supplementary Cup with a 2-2 draw against Sherborne Town Reserves. The hosts at Merley Park knew a draw would be good enough to see them progress thanks to their strong goal difference, and they started strong, opening the scoring after eight minutes. Charlie Harries received the ball with his back to goal in the six-yard box and teed up Aldo Bertorelli powered the ball into the net from 12 yards. It should have been two as Josh Toop put a rebound from a Callum Perry free kick off target from six yards in the 13th minute. Sherborne equalised after 18 minutes, Jayden Sault giving the ball away and Joe Boon drove home from the edge of the box. The visitors took the lead three minutes later as Cobham failed to deal with a diagonal, Alec Thomas crossing for Jamie Russo to poke home. Ryan Collins in the Sherborne net saved from a Patrick Spiteri effort, before Harries missed the target with a shot and Collins saved from Bertorelli as the visitors held the lead at the break. Spiteri was sent to the sin bin in the 57th minute but Cobham were on the front foot and equalised in the 62nd minute, Josh Toop putting in a corner and Dan Lindenberg finishing. Cobham sought a winner but it was the visitors who went closest in the 89th minute, Alfie Calway breaking through but slicing wide, as the game ended 2-2. Sports will face Dorchester Sports while Sherborne head to Bournemouth Electric in the semifinals.
