I was shocked to learn that the Harry Potter series is 20 years old this year. How is that even possible? But it was also just the excuse I needed to revisit the books and movies. And then to reflect on these texts in light of youth ministry. So, yes, I'm a bit behind the times (like by a generation), but I'll be doing a series for the rest of the summer on Hogwarts and Confirmation, taking a book at a time and offering a couple of reflections and take-aways for our Muggle-based programs. There are tons of theological reflections of Harry Potter out there; that's not what this will be. My expectation is that this series will be more of a practicum on building a healthy program. And that means I may also have some critiques of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Just so's you know. Warning! There will be spoilers! This is the advantage of waiting until the books have been out for at least 10 years. But if you haven't read them, then just know that plot points may come up. I hope you'll enjoy this series. I look forward to seeing what I discover as I climb back on the Hogwarts Express with my quill and ink at hand.Tags: Harry PotterHogwartsbooksreflectionsclassroom management
