Like any decision, there are pros and cons to going with a third-party provider. We have outlined a few of each below. If you have questions about your specific environment or you’re simply ready to get started you can reach out to your dedicated Core 4 rep.
PROS
Extended life of hardware. Most hardware is still in peak condition well after the OEM warranty expires. Why go through the costly and time-consuming process of replacing what’s already working? Third-party providers are not tied to OEM policy and therefore able to upgrade and replace parts when you determine it’s necessary, not the other way around.
Save thousands of dollars. OEMs are masters in FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt), convincing users that expensive maintenance contracts are they only way to protect their equipment. This is not true! Third-party providers offer the same, or better, levels of coverage without the costly contract, saving customers thousands of dollars.
Simplified project management, streamlined support and paperwork. With third-party maintenance making a service request is easier and often resolved faster than dealing with the OEM (no more hour long wait times!). When opening a ticket with Core 4, you will quickly be connected with a Level 2 engineer, typically on your first call. Whereas filing a service ticket with an OEM may require long wait times, overseas reps and buried contact information.
CONS
Perceived risk switching providers. We understand there is an inherent risk in switching providers, and that can make it challenging to sell your idea upstream. We recommend enrolling a few pieces of non-mission critical hardware with SMARTCARE allowing you to understand how the process works without any risk.
Firmware is not updated. Core 4 has a proven process for ensuring your equipment is always protected and patches remain available to you. For questions about how this would work within your system you can talk to your Core 4 rep.
Lack of direct oversight. As is the case with any contracted vendor, outsourcing to a third-party provider can mean lack of direct oversight into the project. The good news for you is Core 4 Solutions has over 25 years of experience and we’ve partnered with the biggest names in the business including Department of Defense, Tesla, Disney, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft.
In a nutshell, switching to third-party maintenance, like Core 4’s SMARTCARE, is a risk-free way to save tens of thousands of dollars. Reach out to your Core 4 rep today to get a custom quote.
