(PUEBLO, Colo.) - CSU Pueblo is joining the few colleges and universities that are deploying sustainable takeout packing options in their dining halls. USEFULL announced on Wednesday, Sept. 11 that it is partnering with CSU Pueblo - the first higher education institution in Colorado to embrace plastic-free takeout - to address campus waste. The university will be implementing USEFULL, a stainless steel plastic-free container. The takeout containers meet "green" mandates, eliminating plastic containers and the environmental and health-related issues they can cause. The goal is to reduce waste, water, and emissions via green takeout solutions. "Back to school season is one filled with optimism, new beginnings, and a chance for new experiences. And that's what USEFULL is, an elevated takeout experience," said Alison Cove, founder and CEO of USEFULL. "Sustainability is a mandate for our higher education institutions like CSU Pueblo and its students. More than that, it's a significant commitment to making our planet a better and healthier place. USEFULL is proud to partner with CSU Pueblo as it helps to lead the plastic-free takeout experience." USEFULL uses a technology-based tracking system to ensure their containers are actually reused. To check a container out, students can scan a QR code on the bottom of their cup or bowl, like a library book. The app then gives them reminders to return their containers on time, and whenever it is returned the container is washed and then used again. CSU Pueblo plans to make these containers the standard for student dining halls. Copyright 2024 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
