DSI Systems: DSI Expanding Majap, Bedding Business

Urbandale, Iowa - Video and satellite equipment distributor DSI Systems is bulking up on bedding, furniture and appliances. The company, which specializes in servicing the independent retail channel, has added space to its five regional distribution centers (DCs) to accommodate the burgeoning non-CE businesses. The expansion means that dealers across the country can now order furniture, appliances and bedding from the nearest DSI DC, and can more readily meet the company's minimum freight requirements under a new less-than-truckload (LTL) mixed-freight program."A dealer can now order TVs, appliances, bedding and furniture, easily meet freight requirements and all goods will be delivered on one truck" anywhere in the country, explained DSI president/CEO Doug Robison. The distributor has also introduced a new method of boxing and shipping furniture LTL that reduces freight damage during transport, it reported.Robison said the company is presently reorganizing its staff and resources to support continued growth in CE, while preparing for anticipated growth in majaps and home furnishings.DSI carries Haier appliances nationwide, and stocks the Electrolux and GE lines in Louisiana and sections of Texas. It also offers GE products in Eastern Oklahoma.Furniture lines include Ashley, Jackson Catnapper, Klaussner, Jofran and Vintage, as well as multiple TV stands and mount lines, while bedding lines include Simmons, Enso, Corsicana, Symbol and Glideaway.DSI describes itself as the largest national distributor of 4K, HDTV and home-theater TVs, satellite equipment, accessories, appliances, bedding and furniture.
