Walking along Broadway, especially between 8th Street and now all the way down to 11th Street by the Herald Examiner Building, it’s pretty apparent how much Broadway has been revitalized over the years. Once dominated by vacant storefronts, swap meets, and check cashing centers, the vibe along Broadway is decidedly more upscale these days. In addition to the still-popular Ace Hotel that opened near 9th/Broadway in 2014, trendy retail stores and boutiques like Theory and Paul Smith — once thought impossible to obtain in DTLA — are becoming a, dare I say, normal part of the landscape.
