They can be downright spooky, these specters from the past. Wandering across campus looking somewhat lost, they may stop abruptly and stare, stumble over now-unfamiliar paths and seem more than a little out of place in their costumes emblazoned with logos of yore. Who are they, you might well ask? The answer becomes painfully clear: they are alumni and it's Homecoming Weekend. It would be ghoulish of us to allow these lost souls to continue to live in the past. Instead, let's do our best to help them cross over into the present. Treating them to hats or tee shirts with the latest school colors and mark will help do the trick. As will inviting them to circulate among today's living, breathing embodiment of U - the students! Let's encourage them to discover new haunts while revisiting and relishing the old. All of this will serve as a well-placed stake to help ensure that there is more than the ghost of a chance they will leave ready to embrace the spirit of what's yet to come.
