On top of providing terrific insight into electricity production and consumption in residential and commercial settings, the eGauge energy meter has also proven to be a useful tool for Educational Professionals and Portfolio Energy Managers seeking to enhance students’ understanding of energy conservation. eGauge Systems has engaged in a long term partnership with Resource Central of Boulder, Colorado to aid the mission of Renew Our Schools 2.0. This nationwide program seeks to bring comprehensive renewable energy education curricula to classrooms nationwide. Capitalizing on an innovative youth engagement program in conjunction with the eGauge meter, Renew Our Schools 2.0 has had great success in increasing youth awareness of the importance of energy conservation. Kathy Croasdale, the Senior Manager for Renew Our Schools 2.0, had this to say about the value the eGauge meter brings to the table as a renewable energy education tool: “We could not have built such a successful program without eGauge meters. The devices provide immediate feedback to students when they make a change in their building. They can turn off lights in the gym, or put computers in sleep mode and see the energy reduction instantly. This immediate feedback fuels the student’s passion for seeing results and creating change.”In addition to the hands-on educational aspects of the eGauge meter, the insights eGauge metering provides can be invaluable to School District Energy Managers. Hal Corin, the Energy Manager for Jefferson County Public Schools in Colorado, has used a large array of eGauges to optimize and monitor electricity usage and demand. The data from the JeffCo eGauge array has also been used to show how building programming and the behaviors of building occupants impact electricity usage across the entire Jefferson County School District. Mr. Corin has agreed to share his experience with one of the largest eGauge arrays in existence and how it has been utilized at Jefferson County Public Schools.“Our first eGauges were installed for our Fall 2015 participation in the ReNew Our Schools program. Three years later, nearly the entire district is equipped with eGauges, which in addition to providing the backbone for our student engagement programs, they also feed into a portfolio level dashboard providing actionable real-time analytics. Our analytics platform computes metrics that enable performance comparisons of similar buildings, flags equipment malfunction or excess use in facilities, and quantifies electricity reductions (or increases) over time; whether the result of behavioral based changes, energy saving capital projects, or shifts in building operations. We also utilize our eGauges to conduct billing audits, in project planning, to make utility cost projections, and to identify future opportunities for savings within our portfolio. For all things electricity, the strategy and operations of Energy Management at JeffCo Schools relies heavily on eGauge data.”Click Here For More Information Regarding Renew Our Schools 2.0 Jeffco Public Schools: http://www.jeffcopublicschools.org/All Thanks to Mrs. Croasdale and Mr. Corin for sharing their valuable insights!
