Enterprise Consulting Blog R.E. Mason Solves IFS Project Activities Issues

Enterprise Consulting was asked to help RE Mason define and create a specification to modify IFS to handle some issues with activities on IFS Projects. Enterprise leveraged its in-house expertise with IFS Applications to create a solution that avoided the need for the planned modification. The issue was that IFS Project Activities uses the inventory standard cost as the planned material value. This leads to incorrect project completion, progress estimating and progress reporting, because sometimes material costs vary against the original plan based on delivery time or quantity. To allow the user to adjust the planned value for each item, we first changed the way in which materials are planned on a project. This process change allows the user to manually adjust the expected planned cost of the item, which ensures accurate "Estimate to Complete" planning and progress reporting. Through our in-house expertise we were able to solve the issue using standard IFS functionality, eliminating the need for a modification.
