Essential Design Blog The Next British Icon: the EV chargepoint

The UK Department for Transport has enlisted PA Consulting and the Royal College of Art to create an iconic British design for electric vehicle charging stations, or chargepoints, that could become as recognizable as the red post box or black cab. By introducing iconic design, Britain hopes to promote the transition to electric vehicles - which is a key component of its plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Our designers will collaborate to create a solution that makes switching to electric vehicles more attractive, accessible, affordable, and secure. The chargepoint design will be unveiled at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow this November, and could be seen on streets across the country by 2022.
