FamousEnuf Blog The Newest Breed Of Celebrities: People Like You and Me

The world is shrinking. Rapidly. From theatres, it shrunk to televisions. From televisions it shrunk to desktops. And it has shrunk now to tablets and mobiles. Future beholds only a smaller screen. It may have shrunk, but its reach has increased multi-fold. Now screens are everywhere. For everyone to see, use, like, comment, share, tweet, pin. In their pockets. On the go. Just before bed. First thing to wake up to.It has brought along a juggernaut of a change. It has turned life into a live streaming soap-box. It has given power to everyone with a smart phone and a social media account to voice an opinion, to raise a toast, to share a tip. It has affected not only content creation but content consumption also. People want to see real people sharing real stories and real experiences. The relevance is so much more now. The content is direct and personal, not scripted. People experience a real connect when they feel they are looking through a window, right into lives of people, just like them! But most of all, it has brought fame and influence within reach. This phenomenon is a revolution that explains the evolution of who we consider as a celebrity. The distance between a fan and a superstar has shrunk. There is no more them (superstars) and us (fans). It is just us. Young audience has taken to this phenomenon like a fish takes to water. And some of us have achieved fame, just by being us. By being creative, witty and fun Facebook post creators, bloggers, vloggers, Twitterati, Instagrammers and the like.Social circles are widening by the day. And so is the influence one has over the people in ones network. It is no longer about one celebrity commanding influence over a large circle of fans, but rather several small pockets of very high influence created by local superstars, just like you and me.A recent survey showed that 92% people prefer recommendation from people in their network over any other endorsements. In fact, 70% said they value endorsements by non-celebrities and unknown people more than celebrity endorsements, because they thought of these influencers as peers or 'people just like us'. Word-of-mouth holds more sway today than ever before. This just goes on to prove that content consumed is no longer a passive activity. It is something that is stitched beautifully and willingly together with everyday life. "Media" or forced ads are rapidly blurring out. Peer reviews are trending. Social currency is becoming predominant. It may soon equal paper currency. The world is shrinking. Rapidly. Into a close-knit global community. Credits to the newest breed of superstars. Regular people, just like you and me.
