Faraday Printed Circuits Blog Gordon Arkley 1946 - 2016

Gordon Arkley 1946 - 2016It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our founder and Chairman Gordon Arkley, who passed away on 3rd February 2016 following a long illness.Gordon co-founded Faraday in 1987 and saw it grow to its present size and turnover and become firmly established in the UK PCB industry. He started by acquiring a 4300 sq/ft unit on our present site which has grown to the 20,000 sq/ft we occupy today. Over that time the customer base of the company grew and we're proud that many of our customers have been with us for many years and we have enjoyed mutual success.Gordon was much respected by the people who worked for him here at Faraday over many years. Many of our key staff have been here a long time and have been important in our growth. Something Gordon never ever forgot and was always appreciative of.Gordon spent his latter years growing a management team he felt capable of taking the company forward. In 2009 he appointed the current directors. This enabled him to phase out the time he spent at work to enjoy his other passions in life i.e. shooting, dining out and travelling.Gordon could be described as an introverted extrovert. To many people he was this quiet unassuming man who said very little and only spoke when he was spoken to. However once you really got to know him you couldn't help but appreciate his sense of humour and love of life. Not one to shy away from a social opportunity he really knew how to enjoy himself to the full. Once, without even trying, he convinced a hotelier he was a member of the House of Lords. What made the person make the assumption we'll never know. However not being one to disappoint, Gordon played along. The room card marked 'Lord Arkley' still hangs on the kitchen pinboard.Gordon will be very much missed by us all.
