His father, professional race car driver Derek Daly, reached the pinnacle of the sport, having competed in Formula One and Indycar for well over a decade. His mother, Beth, won a Novice Jet Ski World title in 1990.Conor's career started at the ripe age of 10, when he started racing go-karts. In 2005, he won 19 races, two championships, and Junior Driver of the Year. In 2006, he went on to win three World Karting Association national titles. Towards the end of the season (and on age waivers - he was just 14-years-old), he became the youngest driver in the country to win a "senior" pro kart race when he was victorious at the Pro Invitational race at the TaG World Championships, Newcastle Motorsports Park, Indiana.His age, in relation to his talent, has been a theme throughout his career. For instance, as a member of the Mazdaspeed driver development system in 2009, Conor finished third in the Formula Star Mazda Championship. He was the youngest winner of the season, scoring his maiden championship win at the fourth round at the New Jersey Motorsports park.Record-setting is another common occurrence for this ambitious driver. In 2010, Conor had a remarkable year as he swept the Formula Star Mazda Championship with seven wins (a record), nine pole positions (a record), 12 podium finishes (a record), most laps led (another record), and the largest winning points margin in the championship's 23-year history.Conor Daly is a driver to watch in this year's Indianapolis 500, and we can't wait to see what his future holds.
