The Greatest Spectacle in Racing will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 27, and as daily activities have the track humming with energy and excitement, it's the perfect time to profile another Fatheadz sponsored auto racing driver. We hope you're as excited about Conor Daly as we are.Meet Conor DalyConor Daly, 25, is a second-generation professional driver and is familiar with the need for speed. His father, professional race car driver Derek Daly, reached the pinnacle of the sport, having competed in Formula One and Indycar for well over a decade. His mother, Beth, won a Novice Jet Ski World title in 1990.Conor's career started at the ripe age of 10, when he started racing go-karts. In 2005, he won 19 races, two championships, and Junior Driver of the Year. In 2006, he went on to win three World Karting Association national titles. Towards the end of the season (and on age waivers - he was just 14-years-old), he became the youngest driver in the country to win a "senior" pro kart race when he was victorious at the Pro Invitational race at the TaG World Championships, Newcastle Motorsports Park, Indiana. His age, in relation to his talent, has been a theme throughout his career. For instance, as a member of the Mazdaspeed driver development system in 2009, Conor finished third in the Formula Star Mazda Championship. He was the youngest winner of the season, scoring his maiden championship win at the fourth round at the New Jersey Motorsports park.Record-setting is another common occurrence for this ambitious driver. In 2010, Conor had a remarkable year as he swept the Formula Star Mazda Championship with seven wins (a record), nine pole positions (a record), 12 podium finishes (a record), most laps led (another record), and the largest winning points margin in the championship's 23-year history.Conor Daly is a driver to watch in this year's Indianapolis 500, and we can't wait to see what his future holds. We are proud to sponsor this outstanding professional race car driver.Conor Daly Career At-A-Glance2004 Indiana State Champion (Yamaha)2005 Two-time Kart Racers of America Junior Yamaha Champion and Junior Driver of the Year2006 Three-time World Karting Association Champion2007 Won Debut race in Skip Barber Regional Race Series2007 Winner Stars of Karting TaG East Championship; Five consecutive pole positions2008 Won Canadian Formula Ford 1600 Rookie of the Year; five consecutive wins; three new lap records2008 Won Skip Barber National Championship with five wins2008 Won Walter Hayes Formula Ford Trophy, Silverstone, England; first ever American winner2009 Finished third in Formula Star Mazda Championship (one pole, one win, six podiums)2010 Record-setting season, winning Formula Star Mazda championship; seven wins (record), nine poles (record), twelve podiums (record), most laps led (record), largest winning points margin ever.2010 Won Gorsline Scholarship for Performance and Potential, presented by Sir Stirling Moss in London2011 Won Firestone Indy Lights race in Long Beach, California2011-2013 GP3 with two wins, 11 podiums and one pole position2012/13 Won Indian MRF Challenge ChampionshipIndy 500 debut with AJ Foyt Racing, finishing 22nd2012 GP2 in Malaysia with Hilmer Motorsports (second fastest race lap)2014 GP2 with Venezuela GP Lazarus; debut at 24 Hours of Daytona (P3)2015 Verizon Indycar at Long Beach, Detroit (P6) and Toronto; 12 Hours Sebring (P3)2015 Indy 500 with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports; led Detroit for SPM; also competed in Toronto2016 Indycar with Daly Coyne Racing2017 Indycar with AJ Foyt2018 Indycar with Thom Burns Racing
