Given that Easter Sunday is a more widely recognized holiday, Easter Monday sits in a more niche category for American consumers. Easter Monday is seen as a significant religious holiday, but it is not listed as one of the 11 federally recognized ones . Big days that are on the list include Christmas , Thanksgiving and Independence Day, for example. This means that federal institutions that are close in observance of national holidays will be open and operating on Monday. Therefore, federal buildings like the Federal Reserve are open for Easter Monday. Americans still have some time to go before the reserve's next recognized federal holiday. This will be Memorial Day on May 26. As a result, all major banks such as Chase and Wells Fargo are also open on Easter Monday. Following a weekend of retailer uncertainty, Americans will be able to breathe a sigh of relief on Easter Monday. The USPS will be open on Easter Monday, and retail stores are expected to return to their normal hours. Mail delivery services like FedEx are also back up and running. The stock market closed to recognize Good Friday, which this year fell on April 18. But the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq are scheduled to open at 9:30 a.m. EST today. The bond market opened at 8:00 a.m. EST. MEMORIAL DAY BLACKOUT The US Sun previously reported on the upcoming Memorial Day , which will cause significant disruption to services.
