Ferman Nissan of Tampa Blog Nissan Extends Sponsorship of National Drive Electric Week through 2017

According to Plug In America, National Drive Electric Week is the largest annual organized gathering of plug-in vehicle drivers (1) - and it's set to be an even more intriguing event - as exclusive big name sponsor Nissan is now on board for the next three years. (2)OverviewThis summer, Nissan announced that it would extend its sponsorship agreement with the EV advocacy program through 2017. The Japanese carmaker's continued co-operation was surely followed by a sigh of relief from organizers, as the act of securing a sponsor for such an extended period of time is a major hurdle for any event to accomplish. (2)The EventFormerly known as National Plug In Day, the annual September event started out as a one-day program in 2011 before expanding into something much bigger. (2) The gathering was designed to showcase the fun, cost-saving and clean-air benefits of plug-in vehicles, and did so when it was launched four years ago in 29 cities. It continues to do so even today, now in more than 150 U.S. cities (and beyond) as of 2014. (1)This year marks the fifth anniversary of National Drive Electric Week: a yearly nationwide celebration of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles. Those attending the 2015 event can enjoy test drives and other fun activities planned throughout the U.S. and abroad. (3)The massive gathering of green cars will take place between September 12 and 20. (4) During this time, you can expect to increase your awareness of fun-to-drive green cars, trucks, motorcycles and more. You will learn that they are (according to Drive Electric) not only better for the environment but less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline-powered models. (3)Nissan LEAF®In addition to the aforementioned news, Business Wire reports that Nissan's all-electric hatchback offering - the LEAF® - has been the exclusive automotive sponsor for National Drive Electric Week since 2013. (4)"With more than 178,000 global sales and more than 80,000 in the U.S., Nissan LEAF is the world's best-selling electric car," mentioned the carmaker in a statement. Some of the vehicle's more noteworthy features include up to five-passenger seating, an EPA-estimated driving range of 84 miles (when the battery is fully charged) and a combined city/highway MPGe rating 114. (4)Check out the new 2015 model today, available from $29,010 at Ferman Nissan of Tampa, Florida. And don't be shy about contacting your dealer for details regarding vehicle specifications and features!
