For almost 150 years, Americans have been remembering our fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price while defending our freedoms. Originally, Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day and was celebrated by decorating the graves of those who died in defense of their country during the Civil War. The first Decoration Day was May 30th, 1868.
