FirstMerit Bank: FirstMerit Bank to convert to Huntington National in early 2017

Huntington Bancshares Inc. said Tuesday that it has completed its $3.4 billion acquisition of the parent of FirstMerit Bank, bringing one of Ohio's largest banks to Wisconsin. Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares is now an approximately $100 billion-asset bank with nearly 1,000 branch locations across the eight states of Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
