Software and solutions provider Flexeye opened HyperCat, an accelerator and incubation centre in Hyderabad. This will help Indian startups working in the internet of things (IoT) and smart cities space. HyperCat is a consortium of international businesses that includes British Telecom, Cisco, Flexeye, KPMG, Symantec and WSP and led by Flexeye. It is supported by the UK Government.The HyperCat has set a standard to drive secure and interoperable IoT. Its specification allows IoTclients to discover data an IoT server. With HyperCat, which is built on the currently-available web standards, developers can write applications that will work across many servers. The 8,000 sqft HyperCat centre will accommodate 40 Indian startups that are focusing on IoT and smart city technologies, said Flexeye India managing director Srinivas Chilukuri.Justin Anderson, CEO of Flexeye and chair of HyperCat, said the incubator would also provide seed funding to the startups and hand-holding for three to four months.
