I just got back from Memphis, TN, where the sectionals for the US Open will be held. I headed down late Tuesday night and had to work my way through some nasty storms. Luckily my wife went with me so I didn't make the long trip alone. The forecast for Wednesday was 60% chance of storms all day long but we managed to get it all in with no rain! The sectional is 36 holes and will be held at Colonial Country Club. It has two golf courses, North and South. The South course is a 7300 yard par 72 and was once the site of the FedEx St. Jude PGA Tour event. It was very long and the greens were extremely firm. The North Course is a 6600 yard par 71 and is similar to the North but shorter and more open than the South. The South course was the site of the first 59 on the PGA Tour by Al Geiberger. After playing it Wednesday, I now understand how amazing that round was. My tee time on June 2nd is 7:00am on #1 on the South Course. I am paired with 4-time PGA Tour winner Bob Estes. This should be a great experience playing with him and under these conditions. Brian Bennett
