ODESZA formed when Harrison Mills (aka CatacombKid) and Clayton Knight (aka BeachesBeaches) were seniors at Western Washington University, but it was destined to evolve when the two talented men met as freshman. Mills studied graphic design at the time while Knight studied physics. They spent time making music at the end of their college careers and released their first album, Summer's Gone, in 2012 followed by In Return in 2014. Their very first show was at their college's only venue, Wild Buffalo.The band name has an interesting evolution as it was inspired by Mill's uncle's sunken vessel which left only his uncle and one other person alive. ODESZA combines a dreamy, indie vibe with the EDM beat of their music. Their sound is very distinctive complete with bol drums, funky beats and glitched vocals.
