Even though the number of mobile broadband users continues to increase, with 3.3 million new subscribers between April 2015 to March 2016, 62 percent of broadband subscriptions are controlled by cable. But as cable faces increased competition from telecoms, the industry is deploying new technologies so it can better provide high-speed data and IP video services to address next-generation communications solutions consumers and organizations use. Nokia is making this possible by using the technology of Gainspeed, a Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) provider with a Virtual CCAP (Converged Cable Access Platform) technology.
