GIS: General Atlantic backs GIS

General Atlantic has acquired a minority stake in Chapin, South Carolina-based General Information Services, a provider of background screening and personnel hiring services. No financial terms were disclosed. GIS Chairman Raymond Conrad will retain a controlling stake in the company. In addition to the investment, Peter Munzig and Mark Dzialga, managing director at General Atlantic, have been appointed to GIS's board of directors.
