Great Plains Energy: Merger expedites closings of three Westar plants in Kansas

The merger of Kansas City-based Great Plains Energy Inc. and Topeka-based Westar Energy Inc. is expediting the closings of three Westar plants in Kansas, The Topeka Capital-Journal reports. The three plants employ a total of 85 people, who have been offered other positions in the company.
