Helsing Blog Evelyn — Helsing’s first ada fellow

Evelyn — Helsing’s first ada fellowHi, my name is Evelyn and I am the 2024/2025 Helsing x ada fellow.[1] I am a scientist with a MSc in Organisational Psychology and a PhD in Computer Science specialising in team dynamics: my interests lie at the intersection between human psychology and technology. As a child, I was a keen online gamer. As an adult, I’ve turned this pastime into a unique expertise in teamwork and collaboration in high-pressure environments. For the past six years, I’ve been using (“real”) online video games (like League of Legends and Valorant) as my experimental lab. I believe that games are excellent low-consequence environments to simulate real-world problems, allowing us to observe how people solve issues under pressure.Prior to joining the Helsing x ada fellowship, I founded Patterns GG — a deeptech company developing AI to quantify soft skills like communication and adaptability. We pivoted the company to be solely focused on defence, building simulation environments for armed forces. It’s through this work that I became familiar with Helsing and came to learn about the fellowship.I am thrilled to be part of the Helsing x ada fellowship. The key goals I have for the programme are: to develop my leadership skills to build a sustainable organisation; to delve deeper into how to transform ideas into valuable products; and to connect with other ambitious individuals striving to make an impact.I am in early in my career in defence tech and am particularly excited to learn from Helsing and contribute to shaping the future of this field. You’ll hear more from me in this blog over the course of my fellowship, stay tuned!1 What is a Helsing x ada fellow? You can read more about the Helsing x ada fellowship on a previous blogpost here.
