Every second year, aviation fans from all over the country visit Blenheim for the Classic Fighters Omaka Airshow - widely regarded as one of the world's best and most innovative airshows. The 2013 show will be held over the three-day Easter weekend of March 29-31, at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. This family-friendly attraction is a popular destination all-year round for anyone with an appreciation for history, aviation memorabilia, and interactive exhibits. The centre has a number of events throughout the year - so if you can't make it to the Classic Fighters show this Easter, it's still well worth a visit on your next holiday in Blenheim. Past airshows have included 'locating' the action in North Africa, France and Italy, as well as an 'Aviation and the Movies' themed display. Past props have included a pyramid and sphinx, Eiffel Tower, Arc de 'Triumphe, a section of the Forum, gondolas and a full-scale V2 rocket! This year is set to have even more surprises for the crowd - guaranteed to entertain the whole family.But if aviation isn't your thing, you'll still enjoy the event. The show is designed to provide visitors with a weekend of entertainment and something for everyone to do. When not watching one of the many air shows, visitors can browse the trade stalls, stop for some gourmet Marlborough food and wine, or make use of the children's play area.Gates open at 8.00am on all three days. The Friday twilight show commences at around 5pm, and on Saturday and Sunday the programme runs from 10am-3.30pm.
