Jim Ellis Blog Introducing the 2021 Corvette Stingray

Being the attention-grabbing vehicles they are, it can be difficult to figure out how to make a Corvette best itself. But the designers of the 2021 Corvette Stingray knew they wanted to take it up a notch and turn even more heads. So, they took the great performance features of the existing Corvette models and added extra "umph" in just the right places. Why don't we start with one of the first things you might notice, color. The new 2021 Corvette Stingray has added two new paint options - Red Mist Tintcoat and Silver Flare Metallic.Red Mist Tintcoat made its public debut in September 2020, when Chevrolet sent a 2021 Stingray in that color to be photographed at the National Corvette Museum. The same opportunity soon presented itself for Silver Flare Metallic, which replaces Blade Silver as one of the Stingray's list of available colors. How would we describe Silver Flare Metallic? The truth is, our description could be different from yours. Those who have seen it say the color can vary from one observer to the next, or even depending on the angle from which you're looking at the car."The Silver Flare is a color that GM team members describe as having a lot of 'travel' - meaning that as you walk around the car, the color can look different," a spokesperson for the National Corvette Museum said. "Ask anyone to describe the hue, and you'll get different answers. The lighting and position greatly affect what the color looks like."Silver Flare Metallic is available on the 2021 Stingray at no extra cost. Those who opt for Red Mist Tintcoat or the returning Sebring Orange Metallic will have to pay an additional $995, while Accelerate Yellow Metallic and Rapid Blue are available for an additional $500.Aesthetics aside, the 2021 Corvette Stingray comes with a 6.2-liter V8 LT2 engine, including eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is available in two body styles, a two-door coupe (with a manually removable top) or a two-door hardtop convertible. And like the C8 Corvette, the 2021 Stingray, three trim levels (1LT, 2LT and 3LT) will be offered.Included on all models and trims is the Z51 performance package. This includes Z51 performance suspension, performance exhaust, performance rear axle ratio, Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD), Z51 rear spoiler, front splitter, 245/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR20 rear high-performance tires and a heavy-duty cooling system.Looking for beefed up connectivity? The 2021 Stingray now comes with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The previous wired option is also still available. For those interested in the racing stripe package, it is now available in four new colors - blue, orange, red and yellow. Stinger Stripe is now available in three colors - Carbon Flash/Edge Red, Carbon Flash/Edge Yellow and Carbon Flash/Midnight Silver.Speaking of flashy accent colors, the 2021 Corvette adds a new Sky Cool Gray/Strike Yellow interior color (only available on the 3LT trim level). The Stingray will look as breathtaking as it always has. But now in new color options, all to accompany performance that is pure Corvette.Design yours today!
