Remember when the possibility of a "Brexit" seemed a looming market calamity?In the two days after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union back in June, global markets did indeed drop sharply; the S&P 500 index fell some 5%. But the damage proved to be short-lived. Within two weeks, global markets had rallied, and the S&P had reached a record high.The market's behavior in the Brexit's aftermath is an example of a media-hyped "disaster" failing to live up to its billing. If the Brexit were a weather event, it would have been forecast as the storm of the century, only to end up being a rain shower.
